Dr. Macarena Espinilla presents the key elements of the MicroChip4Age project at a disruptive innovation event held at Uppery Club in Málaga.
Málaga, 06/02/2025 – The MicroChip4Age project took part in an event organized by Málaga Tech Hub, one of the leading technological innovation ecosystems in Southern Europe, with the participation of Dr. Macarena Espinilla Estévez, Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Jaén and coordinator of the project, as a guest speaker.
The event was held at the exclusive Uppery Club, bringing together entrepreneurs, tech companies, institutional representatives, and academics to share ideas, projects, and visions about the future of digital innovation. Under the format of “inspirational talks,” the event combined disruptive presentations, success stories, and networking areas with technology showcases.
A talk on smart homes and respectful technology
Dr. Espinilla delivered a talk entitled “Invisible Sensors, Visible AI: How We Are Transforming the Home”, focusing on the solutions developed by the MicroChip4Age project to improve the quality of life of older adults and chronic patients through non-invasive monitoring based on microelectronics and artificial intelligence algorithms.
During her presentation, she emphasized how discreet, ethical, and user-adapted technologies can be integrated into the home without compromising the privacy or autonomy of individuals. She also underlined the value of applied research as a driver to bring AI closer to real-life needs, with social impact and industrial scalability.
Innovation with purpose
Alongside Macarena Espinilla’s contribution, the event featured other inspiring talks such as Víctor Ruz’s “Innovación Coqueta: The Journey of a Croquette and the Truth About Innovation”, in a creative and relaxed atmosphere ideal for sharing purpose-driven innovation experiences.
Participation in this type of event reinforces the outreach, interdisciplinary, and collaborative dimension of the MicroChip4Age project, as well as its ability to engage with entrepreneurial and technological ecosystems, where artificial intelligence intersects with the design of new products, services, and care models centered on people.
