Baeza, August 2024<\/b> \u2013 The <\/span>International University of Andalusia (UNIA)<\/b> hosted at its <\/span>Baeza campus<\/b> the summer course <\/span>\u201cArtificial Intelligence and Its Application in Person-Centered Integrated Care\u201d<\/span><\/i>, held on <\/span>August 26 and 27<\/b>. This training initiative brought together experts and professionals from various disciplines to reflect on the role of <\/span>artificial intelligence as a tool for well-being, inclusion, and respectful care<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joint coordination with strong ties to the project<\/b><\/h3>\n

The course was <\/span>co-organized by Dr. Mar\u00eda Dolores Mu\u00f1oz de Dios<\/b>, PhD in Social Work at the University of Ja\u00e9n, and <\/span>Dr. Macarena Espinilla Est\u00e9vez<\/b>, Professor of Computer Engineering and <\/span>coordinator of the MicroChip4Age project<\/b>, reinforcing the interdisciplinary nature that defines this initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inaugural keynote<\/b><\/h3>\n

Dr. Macarena Espinilla<\/b> played a central role in the event, delivering the <\/span>keynote lecture<\/b> titled <\/span>\u201cSystem Analysis for Improving Health and Well-being Through Artificial Intelligence\u201d<\/span><\/i>. In her presentation, she shared the progress of the <\/span>MicroChip4Age<\/b> project as a success story in the application of <\/span>non-invasive AI<\/b> for monitoring older adults and chronic patients. She also outlined the research journey that underpins the system\u2019s development, from its early stages to its validation in real-world contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The day continued with a <\/span>hands-on workshop on accessible technology<\/b>, and concluded with a <\/span>roundtable moderated by Dr. Espinilla<\/b> entitled <\/span>\u201cArtificial Intelligence: Breaking Stereotypes, Bridging Concepts\u201d<\/span><\/i>. Among the panelists was <\/span>Dr. Jos\u00e9 Luis L\u00f3pez Ruiz<\/b>, a member of the <\/span>MicroChip4Age<\/b> team, who reflected on the relationship between AI and social services from both a technical and ethical perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n

Active participation from the MicroChip4Age team<\/b><\/h3>\n

The course also featured the <\/span>active attendance and engagement<\/b> of several other members of the MicroChip4Age team, including <\/span>David D\u00edaz Jim\u00e9nez<\/b>, <\/span>J. Francisco Gait\u00e1n<\/b>, and <\/span>Antonio P. Alb\u00edn Rodr\u00edguez<\/b>, who contributed to the exchange of ideas and learning based on their research experience in <\/span>ambient intelligence and digital health<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
