The project closes 2024 with a significant milestone in the physical development of its devices, after integrating design, electronics, and 3D printing engineering.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Ja\u00e9n, December 2024<\/b> \u2013 The <\/span>MicroChip4Age<\/b> project, led by the <\/span>ASIA research group at the University of Ja\u00e9n<\/b>, has received its <\/span>first 3D-printed prototypes<\/b> this December for the <\/span>\u201cpawn\u201d-type device casing<\/b> and the <\/span>BLE-enabled smart wristband<\/b>\u2014key components of the non-invasive monitoring system being developed to improve the quality of life for older adults and chronic patients.<\/span><\/p>\n

These first prints are the result of <\/span>months of intensive technical and creative work<\/b> across multiple teams and mark a turning point in the physical development of the system prototype. The parts were manufactured by <\/span>Sodeintec<\/b>, a company specialized in technological solutions and additive manufacturing, based on the <\/span>industrial design by the renowned international firm Eli Guti\u00e9rrez Studio<\/b>, and in coordination with <\/span>Hardware Me Electronics<\/b>, responsible for the devices\u2019 electronic architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, these initial prototypes <\/span>pave the way for new print tests by Sodeintec<\/b>, which will be essential to <\/span>test materials, finishes, assembly, and ergonomics<\/b>, and ensure that the casing fits the electronic components developed by <\/span>Hardware Me Electronics<\/b> perfectly\u2014without compromising technical performance or user experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

From concept to object: combining design, technology, and ergonomics<\/b><\/p>\n

The design of these casings reflects the core principles of the project: <\/span>respect, seamless home integration, and stigma-free usability<\/b>. The work of <\/span>Eli Guti\u00e9rrez Studio<\/b> has transformed an advanced technological solution into a product that is <\/span>friendly, comfortable, and designed for everyday living<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A model of cross-sector collaboration<\/b><\/p>\n

This stage represents a clear example of <\/span>collaborative innovation<\/b>, uniting the efforts of <\/span>researchers, designers, engineers, and manufacturers<\/b> into a single development process. The <\/span>ASIA research group<\/b> at the University of Ja\u00e9n coordinates this synergy across sectors to move toward one of the project\u2019s key milestones: the <\/span>functional validation of the prototype in real-world settings<\/b> and the achievement of <\/span>Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL 7)<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
