The activity, part of a gender equality project at the University of Ja\u00e9n, seeks to inspire girls and young women to engage with science and technology from a transformative perspective. During her talk, the researcher also presented recent progress from the MicroChip4Age project.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ja\u00e9n, April 9, 2025<\/b> \u2013 Researcher <\/span>Dr. Raquel Viciana<\/b>, a member of the <\/span>MicroChip4Age<\/b> project team, took part as a guest speaker in the event <\/span>\u201cWomen in STEM: Innovating for a Sustainable Future\u201d<\/span><\/i>, with a talk aimed at high school students entitled <\/span>\u201cThe Added Value of Telecommunications in Our Lives.\u201d<\/span><\/i> The session was part of an educational initiative promoted by the <\/span>University of Ja\u00e9n<\/b>, focused on <\/span>encouraging scientific and technological vocations among girls and young women<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was held within the framework of the project <\/span>\u201cBuilding a Circular Future: Promoting STEM Vocations in the Circular Economy,\u201d<\/span><\/i> which falls under <\/span>Line 1: Promoting STEM Scientific Vocations in Girls and\/or Women<\/b>, as part of the <\/span>Gender Equality Projects<\/b> supported by the <\/span>University of Ja\u00e9n<\/b>. The initiative is led by researchers <\/span>Ana Bel\u00e9n L\u00f3pez, Carmen Mart\u00ednez, Teresa Cotes, Luisa Molina, and Ana Revelo<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspiring through technology and social commitment<\/b><\/h3>\n

In her talk, <\/span>Dr. Viciana<\/b> discussed the essential role of <\/span>telecommunications<\/b> in improving quality of life, fostering sustainability, and driving technological innovation within the framework of the <\/span>circular economy<\/b>.
