The event is one of the main national forums for sharing research and innovation in applied engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the session, the team presented their progress on the <\/span><b>analysis, design, and development of environmental \u201cpawn\u201d beacons and BLE-enabled smart wristbands<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which form a key part of the intelligent indoor localization system being developed within MicroChip4Age. These components are being designed and produced in-house to ensure privacy, usability, and seamless integration into real-world domestic and care environments.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3><b>A strategic network for smart indoor environments<\/b><\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The REPNIN++ network (Indoor Positioning and Navigation Network), coordinated by the <\/span><b>GEINTRA group<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the University of Alcal\u00e1, aims to <\/span><b>foster technological advancement and collaboration in indoor positioning and smart space applications<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a strong focus on healthcare, industry, and social care settings.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The participation of the ASIA group allowed them to share MicroChip4Age\u2019s interdisciplinary and human-centered approach. Funded through the <\/span><b>PERTE CHIP<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> initiative, the project focuses on <\/span><b>monitoring daily activity and promoting independent living for older adults<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using <\/span><b>interpretable artificial intelligence, distributed sensors, and non-invasive indoor positioning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 all without cameras or microphones.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3><b>Ethical and scalable positioning technology<\/b><\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to technological development, the team emphasized the importance of <\/span><b>privacy protection, user trust, and social acceptability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in indoor monitoring systems.
